The audience is asked to reach under their seats to pick up a book or newspaper page. As they follow musician-led cues to read an excerpt from the book, the sound of audience voices becomes the fourth member of the ensemble.

"Words from a Basket" is a structured improvisation that begins as spoken word then transforms into instrumental music. As the audience walks into the concert space they are asked to write down a sentence and place it in a basket. Then each member of the ensemble randomly choses a sentence to create the text for the piece.
