Abigale Reisman, violin

Rachel Panitch, violin

Andria Nicodemou, vibraphone and percussion

Thread Ensemble is the convergence of three unique voices, each with a love for the telling of a great story through musical improvisation. Using violins, vibraphone, percussion, and voices, the ensemble pulls from a wide range of musical traditions to craft workshop and performance experiences for each individual audience: from the Outside the Box Festival to the Boston Children’s Museum.

As performers and teachers of improvisation, Thread works with young musicians to develop their expressivity and creativity through music, their confidence in sharing ideas and collaborating, and their familiarity with creating music “in the moment.”

Thread Ensemble developed as a result of a 2012 Ensemble Fellowship in NEC’s Community Performances & Partnerships Department. They have been performing and giving interactive workshops in the Boston Public Schools ever since. Funded with a grant from New England Conservatory, they performed and taught in a residency at Bridge Boston Charter School in 2014, focusing composition and story-telling.
